Adventure: Wilder Party!!

I love Gene Wilder. You love Gene Wilder. We all love Gene Wilder!!! So, we had a Wilder Party at my house with some of my brother's friends and had a blast! We had 11.5 hours worth of video in our posession, 16 homemade soft pretzels and three AWESOME homemade pizzas (courtesy of my dad). We also had an ADORABLE baby goat for a few hours too, thanks to Katie Duncan! We made it through Blazing Saddles, The Producers and Willy Wonka before dinner and after that everyone got sidetracked by a hilarious game of Loaded Questions and the remaining videos were skipped. There just may have to be a Wilder Party Part II to finish up the neglected footage including my two favorites Young Frankenstein and The Frisco Kid which also stars Harrison Ford! So, if anyone has any free time to sit on a couch for hours and hours (albeit with some yummy homemade food) and watch the remaining four films just let me know!! Overall the party was a success and it was great to be among friends, even if they weren't mine.

Now, I will leave you with the words of Dr. Frederick von Frankenstein from Young Frankenstein : "For what we are about to see next, we must enter quietly into the realm of genius!" Keep a weather eye to the horizon...

Adventure: Escape!

Yesterday Torbin, my littlest brother, and I escaped the house and drove the hour down to Oklahoma City with the excuse of needing to go to the bank. While we were there we also went to Target and hit the mall to get Torbin a sweatshirt/hoodie thing from the Gap with his birthday money from grandma. To burn more time away from home we went to the movies and saw Prince of Persia. Both of us really loved it though the snakes were a bit gross. Our general consensus was that if Hidalgo and Aladdin got together and made a baby this would be it. There are horses and snakes and ostriches along with some super cool fight scenes, plenty of bloodshed and rockin' awesome, time controlling, dagger right along with the beautiful Gemma Arterton and of course the dashing Jake Gyllenhaal. If you haven't seen it, SO do! It was a fun diversion from the oppressive humidity outdoors and the oppressive mother indoors.

I hope everyone is enjoying this year's summer movie fare. I know I am! (I am secretly...or not so secretly...addicted to movies!) Keep a weather eye to the horizon....

Adventure: Patience!

Hey! Happy (belated) 4th of July!!! I hope everyone enjoyed their fourth!! Ours was quite wet and soppy though the rain did stop long enough for fireworks; even so, most of the afternoon was a complete wash. My dad had gotten us tickets to see the Redhawks who are the minor league baseball team in OKC. We were all excited and even got there early but after a 1.5 hour delay to "prep the field" they called off the game entirely and then we sat there for another hour waiting for the fireworks which were nice but totally overshadowed by the fact that we just got back from Disneyland where the fireworks not only DON'T have a country western soundtrack and are a few times bigger . Then we got stuck in the parking lot for two hours waiting for the traffic to clear up so we could go home because all of the police in the area were arresting people involved in what looked to be a shooting down by the movie theater instead of directing traffic. Alas, alas! *faints from the sheer weight of such a horrific pain* It was fun though and we had plenty of time just to hang out; Plus now we can go see a nice sunny happy baseball game some other time!

Again Happy Independence Day! May you always appreciate your freedom from England and remember: keep a weather eye to the horizon...

Adventure: Blog!

I'm going to jump in with both feet! (Both literally and figuratively) Today is a rainy, sleepy day with plenty of puddles to soak my feet, and it's also a great day to jump into the blogging world. I write to you now after a request by my dear friend Sherri Huang with the hope of bringing you a new picture (almost) every day that will give you a glimpse of where I am and what I'm up to so as I explore you can too!! This will also force me to keep a weather eye out for cool things to do in life, instead of the same old boring day to day. (Really please slap me if I constantly post pictures of me doing online jigsaw puzzles or watching Bones on Hulu!) Now to get back to writing Vacation Bible School curriculum with mommy dearest. Best wishes to all. Keep a weather eye on the horizon! ~ Kyria
